Will the DPF once cleaned, be warranted ?

No filter is warranted as such as we have no control over how the DPF is maintained. What we do guarantee is that the DPF is returned to a near new condition or a known condition which will give a comparable service life to the original so long as the vehicle is maintained and the driver understands how to maintain the DPF whilst operating the vehicle.

Will it last as long as the original after it has been cleaned ?

Our experience shows that once vehicle owners and their mechanics understand how a DPF works and it has been professionally cleaned using our state of the art equipment and know how, the DPF will give many more km and years of service. Our experience with trucking companies and fleet owners show that with regular service intervals followed of 200,000km they are achieving over 800,000km. What caused the issue/How do I prevent this occurring again ?

The reasons for the DPF blocking are many, some of the more common one's are;
• Wrong oil
• Stop/start city driving constantly
• Leaking exhaust joints
• Engine/DPF management components unserviceable

What oil should I be using ?

The oil recommended by the vehicle manufacturer or its recognized equivalent, under no circumstance should any other oil specification ever be used.

Since 2006 Diesel engines have had Particulate control measure as part of their pollution control systems. In cars the most popular system due to low maintenance and no need to worry about chemical additives, has been the DPF system which when correctly maintained and driven can achieve 200,000km or 10 years average driving, this is the expected service life of a DPF before it needs cleaning.

Do the liquid cleaners work ? My mechanic suggested I try that first.

We have heard of customers being charged up to $1000.00 for a liquid clean. A liquid clean however does not guarantee that the DPF is serviceable. When you have your DPF cleaned at Western Filters our technicians physically inspect the material and return the DPF to a known flow rate, ensuring the job is done right the first time.
